My work begins with a concrete question: how is an activity actually carried out inside an organisation? To answer it, I observe daily operations, exceptions, the steps that slow work down, and decisions that no one can reconstruct anymore. I try to understand who does what, with which information, responsibilities and consequences.
From this analysis I define processes. I represent them, document rules and responsibilities, check the data that is available, and design the tools that need to support them. A workflow is useful when it makes clear what has to be done, who must make a decision, where that decision must be recorded, and how an error can be corrected before it becomes standard practice.
I have worked in information technology since 1991. I began in the Italian Air Force, in a context where continuity of communications required precise procedures, identifiable responsibilities and attention to the consequences of every step. I later worked on document digitalisation in public administration: electronic records management, archival classification, digital signatures, legally compliant digital preservation, records management manuals, and training for the people who had to use those systems.
Document management taught me that a document preserves a trace only when someone has established how it should be acquired, classified, consulted and preserved.
For the Italian Navy I worked as a Senior Business Process Manager, bringing expertise in document management and knowledge organisation. I defined document processes and modelled workflows in SharePoint, reconstructing the document life cycle from acquisition and classification through to preservation.
During the years of public-administration digitalisation, I contributed to practices and principles for organising documents and knowledge that later found their way into services now represented by the app IO and the Fascicolo Digitale del Cittadino. At the time, people were still discussing how to make responsibilities, documents and information recognisable in the digital relationship between citizens and public administrations.
I have used Jira since 2004 and BigPicture since 2014. I was among the first professionals in Italy to use them for portfolio governance and multi-programme planning: processes, capacity, dependencies, priorities and data for project management and PMO work. I applied the same approach to DevOps activities, the configuration of Atlassian systems and the planning of software-development projects.
Throughout my career I have worked with more than 100 organisations on the definition of document and digital processes, release management, activity planning, dependency control and the development of reports that support decisions. I have delivered more than 7,500 hours of training to technical teams, project managers and executive sponsors.
Today I work as an Executive Program Manager. I support company management in understanding delivery capacity, progress, dependencies, risks and data. I design and verify planning and control tools, conduct internal audits, and work to ensure that the information used for decisions is accessible, understandable and controllable.
